I’m sure most developers have had the experience of buying a book on a new programming language, working through the first couple of chapters, being completely uninspired, and giving up on it. So you built a hello world app, who cares? Even if you make it through the whole book, what have you achieved?

It’s good to take the opportunity to clean up your code as you go along, especially on big projects that will be maintained for a while. After all, the chances that you'll go back and fix those little things later is pretty slim.
